Open Day in "Lora" Naval Base

The Naval Base "Lora" in Split celebrated the Victory Day, Homeland Gratitude Day and the Day of Croatian Veterans and 16^th Anniversary of "Storm Operation" today, 4 August 2011, by opening the door to visitors.
During the morning, the delegation of the Navy, and representatives of county and city laid wreaths and lit candles in front of the memorial to killed Croatian soldiers in the Homeland war at the cemetery in the city of Split, and Navy and the Croatian Military Academy "Petar Zrinski" employees ceremoniously aligned in the military port "Lora". Deputy Commander of Navy, Rear Admiral Tihomir Erceg delivered promotions to Navy NCOs and awards and commendations to Navy employees. In his speech he recalled the events of summer 1995 and the significance of the "Storm Operation". He noted that today's and future generations of the Armed Forces, including the Croatian Navy, must seek encouragement and role models in those who in these difficult times put everything, including their own lives, in what we have today, and that is freedom.

On this occasion, Navy Fleet and Coast Guard opened their ships for visitors, and visitors could also see coastal mobile launcher, signal vehicle and mines AIM-M70 and MNS-90, school rocket RBS-15B, and diving equipment. Visitors were also presented with projects to attract new personnel - "Kadet" civil-military education, and photos from the life and work of officers, NCOs and sailors in the Navy units. The new Navy uniforms with digital pattern were presented as well.
Children showed the greatest interest in visiting warships and weapon display.
