Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovric visited on 18 October 2011 the locations of clearing and partial removal of war-damaged buildings in the city of Vukovar. In addition to general Lovric, sites were visited by the Deputy Chief of General Staff for Plans and Resources, Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, Commander of the Army Major General Dragutin Repinc, Commander of the Guards Armoured Mechanized Brigade (GOMBR) Colonel Sinisa Jurkovic, Deputy Commander of the GOMBR Engineer Battalion Major Goran Zubak, and Mayor of Vukovar, Zeljko Sabo.

Clearance of war-damaged buildings in the city of Vukovar, Borovo Naselje and Sotin began on 16 August 2011 pursuant to the Agreement on the implementation of engineering training by providing assistance to the town of Vukovar, which in July was signed by the Ministry of Defence and the city of Vukovar. The agreement foresees the duration of works of 50 working days and up to date engineering unit of GOMBR cleared 75 locations of total area 12 000 m2 and removed 16 000 m3 of construction waste.
