State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Pjer Simunovic met on Monday, 4 October 2011, the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, Ismet Yilmaz, on the sidelines of a meeting of SEDM Initiatives (South Eastern Europe Defence Minister - SEDM) held in Antalya, the Republic of Turkey.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of improving cooperation between the two defence ministries with an emphasis on military technical cooperation, and cooperation of the armed forces of the two countries within the existing regional initiatives.

In August 2011 the initiative for the exchange of expert teams that would define the areas where they would be able to develop military and technical cooperation between the two countries has been launched.

Ismet Yılmaz, who came on duty in July 2011, is the new Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey.
