Defence Minister Branko Vukelic met today, on Tuesday, 5 October 2010, the Ambassador Paul Vandoren, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia. In talks with Ambassador Vandoren Vukelic stressed the role and involvement of the Croatian Armed Forces in international peacekeeping missions including the EU mission, in which he stressed that Croatia, as a responsible NATO member, soon would be responsible and credible member of the European Union.
Members of the engineer regiment of the Army have started today, on Tuesday, 5 October 2010, to assist the City of Vukovar, by clearing and partial removing of war-damaged buildings, repair of gravel road in a distance of 3 kilometres and by rebuilding of pavements in a distance of 2.5 kilometres.
This year's traditional pilgrimage of the Croatian Armed Forces and police to the national Marian shrine in Marija Bistrica traditionally gathered numerous pilgrims from all over Croatia. Together with members of the Croatian Armed Forces and police, MOD and Ministry of Interior, representatives of the Ministry of Family, Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity and veterans' associations, members of the Croatian Fire-fighting Association and the Union of historical army units, as well as members of the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the celebration.
Commission for investigation of aviation accident of MIG-21 military aircraft, since its establishment immediately after the accident on 23 September 2010, continue to work to its maximum capacity. The commision has at its disposal all the necessary material, technical and human resources of the Croatian Armed Forces and MOD. The Commission is still working on gathering all the information regarding the accident of military aircraft - parts of the aircraft from the field and other material elements that could help clarify these accident, while also performing interviews with all persons whose information could contribute to the work of the Commission.

Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament, led by its Chairman Boris Sprem visited today, September 30, the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Command, in order to familiarize with the situation in this sector.
Based on the requirement of the National Centre for Search and Rescue from Rijeka for search of wider area around Palagruza, which was received today, Thursday, 30 September 2010, about 14 hours, because of the information that the specified hot air balloon disappeared with two people in the area of Palagruza Island, the Pilatus PC 9 aircraft of the Coast Guard was involved in the search action near Palagruza.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic and his associates received today, 29 September 2010, in a working visit, delegation of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany led by the Commander for Operations, Lieutenant General Rainer Glatz, which is in a two-day visit to Croatia and the Croatian Armed Forces.
The Day of the military chaplaincy of the 93rd Air Force Base and its patron, "St. Archangel Gabriel" was commemorated today, September 29, in Zemunik Barracks
A press conference on the yesterday's crash of the two CAF MIG-21aircraft was held today, September 24, in the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Command in "Pleso" Barracks. Media representatives were addressed by the Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Major General Vlado Bagaric, Chief of Logistics for Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier Ivica Vidovic and Chief of Operations in the 91st Air Base, Colonel Nikola Mostarac.
