The celebration of the Croatian Armed Forces Day and the Day of the Croatian Army at approximately 9 am this morning was announced by the flyover of MiG-21BIS aircraft of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence above Karlovac.
At the same time, wreaths were laid and candles lit in memory of the fallen Croatian soldiers on the Karlovac Municipal Cemetery Jamadol at the central cross. The wreaths were laid by the Croatian Army Commander Lieutenant General Mladen Kruljac as an envoy of the President and Commander-in-Chief, Nedjeljko Strikic as an envoy of the Croatian Parliament, MOD State Secretary Zeljko Gorsic on behalf of the Government, the Deputy Army Commander Brigadier General Zvonko Peternel led delegation of the Croatian Armed Forces, Special Police Commander Zdravko Janic led the delegation of the Ministry of Interior, the County Prefect Ivan Vucic on behalf of the Karlovac County, Mayor Damir Jelic on behalf of the city of Karlovac, and the President of the Coordination of associations of veterans of the Karlovac County Mario Matesa.
Afterwards, the delegations went to the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where they attended the Holy Mass for all fallen Croatian soldiers and civilian casualties during the Homeland war. The service was led by the Military Ordinary Monsignor Juraj Jezerinac.
From the morning, the citizens of Karlovac in the city centre could attend the CAF Orchestra music programme, which began by the reveille, and continued with a concert at the beginning of the Radic Street.
Upon the Croatian Armed Forces’ Day and the Day of Croatian Army, Croatian “Pleter” music festival was held in the “Zrinski” Officer’s Club in Karlovac on May 27.
State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic participated on Tuesday, May 25, in Brussels, the meeting with senior representatives of the Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, which was organized for representatives of the ministries of defence of European NATO member countries (non-EU member) and the candidate countries for EU membership.
In order to familiarize with the structure, tasks and achievements of the Croatian Military Academy (HVU), delegation of the Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament visited HVU on Tuesday, May 25.
Under the slogan "A sign of the cross-a sign of life", the 52nd International military pilgrimage in which Croatian military and police forces has been taking part for the eighteenth time was officially opened on Friday, May 21, in Lourdes.
A joint training of the Croatian Mi-171 Sh and Bell 206 B flaying crews and instructors from the United States with the equipment to fly at night completed on Friday, May 2, in the "Zemunik" Barracks. This modern and quality equipment allows the Croatian crew helicopters a safer and more efficient flying at night, and the possibility of landing on the unlit terrains.
The five day working visit of pilots of the Danish Pilot School to the 93rd Airbase of the Croatian Air Force in "Zemunik" Barracks ended on Thursday, May 20. The visit was continuation of a standing successful cooperation between the Croatian and Danish Air Force, and of 93rd Air Force Base squadron and Pilot School of the Kingdom of Denmark.
