Minister Krstičević visits French Navy ship Dixmude in Split

The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 4 June 2019 toured the French Navy vessel Dixmude visiting Split.

The formal reception with the French Ambassador to Croatia. the Dixmude Commander and senior officers and staff of the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Navy was an occasion to highlight the Franco-Croatian friendship and partnership.
 
The two sides stressed that Croatia and France as fellow members of NATO and the EU cooperated closely in various fields, and expressed the intention to further intensify the relations in the domain of defence, notably between the respective navies.
 
Minister Krstičević pledged strong support to intensified defence co-operation between Croatia and Franche, particularly in joint training and exchange of officers, and expressed appreciation to the support of France to the Croatian presidency of the EU in 2020.
 
The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship of the French Navy is mooring in Split until 7 June 2019, and is to take part in a joint training with the Croatian Navy.

The ship has a crew of 202 and 350 members of the French Navy (Marine Nationale), of the Army (Armee de Terre) and of the Marines, and is commanded by Captain (N) Jean Porcher.
 
The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship "DIXMUDE" (L9015) is 199 m long, 32-m beam. It has a 6.8 m draught and 22,500 tons displacement, 19 knots max speed and accomodates 450Commandos Marine, 16 heavy helicopters, two unmanned aerial vehicles, four smaller amphibious assalt ships or a third of mechanised regiment.
