Minister Krstičević opens 10th CSCM Congress

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 3  September 2018.formally opened the 10 World Congress on CBRN Science & Consequence Management taking place in Cavtat.

The opening ceremony was  attended by  the special advisor to the Minister Božo Kožul, Assistant Minister of the Interior Damir Trut, the Chairman of the  CSCM  Ed Locke, the Advisor  to the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Brigadier General Boris Zdilar, the DIrector of the National  Protection and Rescue Directorate Dragan Lozančić, the U.S. Defence Attache to Croatia Colonel Robert Mathers and others .

As chairman  of the Council for the Homeland Security System and Honorary Director of the Congress Minister Krstičević delivered a lecture on "Homeland Security System of the Republic of Croatia in Response to Modern Threats".

The Minister recalled that in democratic and open societies and states security situation was an essential condition and stressed that the systematic management of security risks was an effective  response to modern threats. The Minister also addressed the current security risks and their management and the concept and development of the Homeland Security System in Croatia.  

"The establishment and development of the Homeland Security System were a strategic goal proclaimed by the Croatian Government in July 2017. We are building the homeland security system to respond to security risks to ensure the necessary synergy of all components", said the Minister.

Minister Krstičević also presented the initial results of the Homeland Security System and the  Council of the Homeland Security System: quick and efficient  intervention during the heavy snowfall earlier this year and  well-timed preventive measures against flood in the Lika –Senj, the  Karlovac  and the Sisak-Moslavina County where potentially catastrophic consequences were prevented, and important measures were taken in preparation for the fire season in the coastal area.
