Chief of Joint Staff of AF B&H visits Croatia

The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovine Lieutenant General Senad Mašović headed the delegation on a visit to the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces on 2 October 2018, and met with the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Mirko Šundov.

Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and Lieutenant General  Senad  Mašović discussed  the bilateral defence co-operation and its future perspective and underlined the importance of joint training and pre-deployment training of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina with members of the Croatian contingent preparing for the engagement in  NATO's Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. They also addressed the co-operation development andmutual support in the activities of prevention and relief following natural and other disasters.  

Minister Krstičević reiterated the support by the Republic of Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina with the activation of NATO Membership Action Plan and the intention to share the experiencewith the accession, and Lieutenant General Mašović expressed appreciation  for the support with the training of military personnel and cadets from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Croatian military schools. The delegation of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina  commended the management of the strategic projects and modernisation of Croatian Armed Forces by the Ministry of Defence's leadership .

During the meeting of the general staffs of the armed forces General  Šundov and Lieutenant General   Mašović discussed  the perspectives to enhance the bilateral military co-operation, military education included, and also the development and modernisation of the respective armed forces with the emphasis on developmental projects, and theregional co-operation  within the multinational initiatieves, and the security situation in the region.
The Chief of the Joint Staff  delegation also visited the Croatian Defence Academy “Dr. Franjo Tuđman“, and were received by the Commander, Major General  Mate Pađen.

After the presentation of the activities and development of the Academy, the delegation met with the met with students from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As many as 84 members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have attended a  military education programme in the Croatian Defence Academy, and presently 32 students are undergoing education (two students of the "Josip Jelačić" War College  and seven in the Command  and Staff School "Blago Zadro"and two students in the NCO School "Damir Tomljanović Gavran ", and 21 more members taking the Cadet programme with the University  of Zagreb.
