The marking ceremony was attended by the Command’s members and the Commander, Colonel Perica Turalija, the Envoy of the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces – the Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces Operations Centre, Major General Ivan Juri\u0107, the Chief Defence\u00a0 Inspector, Lieutenant General Mirko \u0160undov and other representatives of the Croatian Armed Forces units, as well as by the Military Diplomatic Corps, the representatives of the Police Directorate of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and of the Special Police Unit, and the Military Ordinary of the Republic of Croatia, Msgr.\u00a0 Juraj Jezerinac.
The Special Forces Command was established following the disband of the Special Operations Battalion in December 2014.
Colonel Turalija emphasised direct operation, special reconnaisance and military assistance as the three main tasks of the special forces. The members of the Special Forces, said Colonel Turalija, alo participate in international operations, contributing\u00a0 to peacekeeping and the world stability.
In the Resolute Support Mission the members of the Command are assigned with mentoring the members of the Afghan Special Police. They also take part in training of the EU and NATO partnered nations, and contribute to the training of other Croatian Armed Forces units.
“It is a great honour and commitment to be one of the Special Forces. The future challenges and the readiness to guard national interests imply considerable responsibility, mandating continuous development and acquisition of new capabilities, as well as the \u00e9lite force esprit and top-level\u00a0 trainedness\u201c, said Colonel Turalija.
Congratulating the anniversary to the members of the Special Forces Command, Major General Ivan Juri\u0107 stressed that over the past fifteen years the special forces had grown into a top-trained and equipped unit and a pride of the Croatian Armed Forces. \u201e Passing on and exchanging your experience and knowledge, particularly in the domain of training,\u00a0 you contribute to continued quality and top standards of the top special units in an international framework\u201c, said Major General Juri\u0107 and extended appreciation to the instructors and lecturers for successful training of new generations and emphasised the training of special units as a highly complex and responsible mission.
On the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Special Forces Command, its meriting members mmand were presented with the promotions, awards and recognitions, and the mass served in the church of\u00a0 St. John the Baptist in Delnice, as well as the respects paid in the memorial room in the Barracks to the fallen members of the Croatian Armed Forces special units.
