The ceremony was attended by the Defence Minister Josip Buljevi\u0107, the Cheif of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovri\u0107a,\u00a0 theInspector General, Lieutenant General\u00a0 Mirko \u0160undov ,the commanders of the Services of the Croatian Armed Forces and the members of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Contratulating the new Commander\u00a0 on his appointment,\u00a0 Minister Josip Buljevi\u0107 expressed his confidence that\u00a0 Brigadier General Kova\u010d would build his expertise and experience into the future development of\u00a0 the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence\u00a0 and pledged his support and the support from the Ministry of Defence in that regard. The Minister\u00a0 emphasised it was a national responsibility to\u00a0 contribute to the system that would guarantee\u00a0 the stability and security of the Republic of Croatia.<\/p>\n
Minister Buljevi\u0107 forwarded the appreciation from the President as the Supreme Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces and expressed his own to General \u0160\u010duri for his overall contribution to the development of the Coatian Air Force and Air Defence under his command.
The Chief of the General Staff emphasised the permanent readiness of the Croatian Armed Forces to respond to any challenge and defend the Croatian air space and territory.<\/p>\n
“The Croatian Air Force and Air Defence is operating within NATO structure and is always ready to assist civilian institutions too.\u00a0 I can proudly state It is a small-sized yet highly efficient service\u201c, said General Lovri\u0107.<\/p>\n
Major General Dra\u017een \u0160\u010duri stated on the occasion that the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence was a\u00a0\u00a0 a respectable service contributing to national safety and expressed appreciation to all colleagues and wished Brig. Gen. Kova\u010d\u00a0 success\u00a0 in commanding the service .
Brigadier General Miroslav Kova\u010d expressed his appreciation for the trust vested in him and the honour to command the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence and pledged to do his best in the interest of its effective operation.<\/p>\n
Brigadier General Miroslav Kovac was born in 1962 in Zadar. He exercised a series of responsible duties during the Homeland War (combat platoon commander, deputy squadron commander, the chief of staff and the commander of the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence). He was a participant of the Operations “Maslenica”, ” Leap 1″ and “Leap 2”, “Winter 94”, “Summer 95”, “Storm”, “Mistral” and “South Move”.\u00a0 He is a holder of the Commemorative Medal “Storm”, “Summer of 95” and “Daring Feat”, the Order of the Croatian Trefoil and a series of commendations and awards., Brigadier General Kova\u010d graduated from\u00a0 the War School\u00a0 “Ban Josip Jelacic” in 2005 and was promoted to the rank in June\u00a0 2014.
