A memorial for the late Vice Admiral Davorin Kaji\u0107, who passed away on 8 June 2020, was held at the Ministry of Defence on 10 June 2020.
\nThe State Secretary for Defence Tomislav Ivi\u0107 said that VAdm Kaji\u0107 had made a huge contribution in critical times to the Croatian state and its armed forces, as expert, soldier, and above all as patriot.
\nThe Chief of the General Staff in his memorial address said that VAdm Kaji\u0107 was a top professional who had put his vast experience and expertise in the service of the young state of Croatia of its Army and the Navy.
\nPrior to the memorial the state secretaries for defence Tomislav Ivi\u0107 and Zdravko Jakop and the Chief of the General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj signed a book of condolences.<\/p>\n

Vice Admiral Davorin Kaji\u0107 was born on 13 August 1937 in Hrvatska Kostajnica. After graduating from the Naval School in Bakar also graduated from the JNA Naval Academy in 1955. He also graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb and was employed at the Submarine Design Department of the Naval Institute in Zagreb, and as submarine technology researcher, specialising in submarine design.
\nHis first project, after participation in design documents, submarine building supervision and prototype tests with the Heroj-class submarine, was combat divers submersibleR-2 in 1970, followed by the Una-class submarine in 1978.<\/p>\n

V Adm Kaji\u0107 was also a professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Construction and was Assistant Minister of Transportation for Naval Architecture.
\nV Adm Kaji\u0107 joined the Croatian Army in May 1993, and exercised various duties in the Croatian Navy Command. He was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral in 1995, and from 1996 until the retirement in 2002 exercised the duty of Assistant Chief of the General Staff for the Navy.
\nV Adm Kaji\u0107 was a holder of the Memorial Medal of the Homeland War and of the Memorial Medal of Homeland Gratitude, of the Order of the Croatian Trefoil, of the Order of Ante Star\u010devi\u0107, of the Order of Ban Josip Jela\u010di\u0107, of the Order of Nikola \u0160ubi\u0107 Zrinski and Red of Duke Domagoj with Neck Badge.<\/p>\n
