At the 277th session held on Thursday, 11 January 2024, the Croatian Government adopted the Draft Proposal for Amendments to the Act on Service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.<\/p>\n

This Proposal will be submitted to the Croatian Parliament for discussion and adoption.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anu\u0161i\u0107 explained that the Proposal for Amendments to the Act on Service in the Croatian Armed Forces will enable soldiers and sailors to remain in active duty military service until the age of 50. To put it another way, the goal is to raise the age limit for honourable discharge of soldiers and sailors from active military service with their entitlement to a pension.<\/p>\n

The Minister pointed out that this issue was temporarily regulated by the Regulation with legal force, which was adopted on December 28, 2023, and which enabled soldiers and sailors who have reached the age of 45 to remain in active military service, given that the age limit for this category of military personnel is raised from 45 to 50 years of age for termination of service by force of law.<\/p>\n
