Purpose of Crisis management exercise is testing of existing and developing concepts of crisis management, as well as mutual cooperation and coordination of relevant national systems and procedures. The exercise will take place on the two levels – at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels and national capitals of countries participating in the exercises. In the exercise scenario, NATO at the invitation of the UN Secretary General and in cooperation with other international organizations participate in crisis management on a remote, fictitious island out of the Euro-Atlantic area. With political and military dimension, this scenario has a humanitarian dimension aw well. <\/p>\n
One of the main objectives of the CMX09 exercise is further development of the Comprehensive Approach Concept as one of the foundations of the Allied strategy for addressing current and future security challenges. The main feature of this approach is NATO cooperation with non-military (civilian) organizations in the theatre, use of non-military resources, and development of military and other participants’ interoperability in the management of crises. <\/p>\n
NATO member states, partner countries and for the first time two international organizations – the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross will participate in the exercise. <\/p>\n
Coordinator of the exercise in the Republic of Croatia is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, with the participation of other relevant state bodies including the Ministry of Defence.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Croatia participate in a NATO political-military decision-making crisis management exercises \u2013 CMX 09, which is due from 4th to 10th of March 2010. After CMX 05 and CMX 08 this is the third NATO Crisis Management Exercise – CMX, in which Croatia will participate for the first time as a full member of NATO.
