{"id":6532,"date":"2012-05-01T13:33:10","date_gmt":"2012-05-01T11:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.morh.hr\/17th-anniversary-of-flash-operation\/"},"modified":"2017-10-08T18:32:13","modified_gmt":"2017-10-08T16:32:13","slug":"17th-anniversary-of-flash-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.morh.hr\/en\/17th-anniversary-of-flash-operation\/","title":{"rendered":"17th anniversary of Flash operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n<p> In addition to participants of Flash operation and family members of killed soldiers, in Oku\u010dani were also the Croatian Parliament Speaker Boris \u0160prem, envoy of the President, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovri\u0107, envoy of the Prime Minister, Defence Minister Ante Kotromanovi\u0107, senior civilian and military officials, and representatives of local authorities.<\/p>\n<p> Flash military-police operation began at 05.21 hours on 1 May 1995. In just 31 hours, about 500 square kilometers of Croatian territory was liberated and highway that connected central Croatia and Slavonia was unblocked. 32 units of the Armed Forces and Police participated in the operation. In liberation of western Slavonia, 42 members of the Croatian Army and police were killed and 162 of them were wounded.<\/p>\n<p> Tribute to fallen soldiers was paid by laying wreath at the Central Cross in Memorial Park of the Croatian knights. On behalf of the Republic of Croatia, Parliament Speaker Boris \u0160prem, envoy of the President, Lieutenant General Drago Lovri\u0107 and envoy of the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence Ante Kotromanovi\u0107 jointly laid a wreath. Wreaths were also laid by CAF delegation, by the General Police Directorate, Brod  Posavina County, Oku\u010dani municipality and families of deceased veterans.<\/p>\n<p> President of the Croatian Parliament \u0160prem thanked all the participants of Flash operation on their courage, determination and sacrifice, and paid the deepest tribute to the fallen soldiers. &#8220;Because it was a legitimate, liberating and defensive, Flash operation was doomed to succeed. Flash was the turning point of the Homeland War that has convinced the international community in the fairness and legitimacy of all Croatian goals and on disastrous aggression politics&#8221;, \u0160prem said. He emphasized that the high professionalism of Croatian soldiers and the consistency of Croatian citizens in the preservation of peace, freedom, democracy and human rights was our ticket for NATO and the EU. &#8220;The obligation of all of us is to preserve the dignity of the Croatian Homeland War, Croatian veterans and let nobody to manipulate with them&#8221;, Parliament Speaker concluded.<\/p>\n<p> Mass for all deceased Croatian soldiers and civilian casualties in the Homeland War was served in the Church  of St. Vid, led by Po\u017eega Bishop Antun \u0160kvor\u010devi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p> As part of the celebration of 17<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Flash operation, sports games of veterans associations and volunteers of the Homeland War were organized, which was opened by Parliament Speaker Boris \u0160prem.<\/p>\n[nggallery id=801]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>17<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Flash military-police operation was celebrated today, May 1, in Oku\u010dani. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":38014,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[116],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-6532","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 -
