Lieutenant Amuli\u0107 embarked on the ship in the naval base Wilhemshaven, Germany, from where the ship sailed toward the Gulf of Aden to take part in the fight against piracy and protection of food shipping by sea (World Food Programme WFP).<\/p>\n

Lieutenant Pave Amuli\u0107 was born on 7 November 1974 in Split. He graduated from the Faculty of Maritime Studies, Department of Nautics. He joined the Armed Forces in 2005. He completed basic officer school on the Croatian Military Academy \u201cPetar Zrinski\u201d. In addition, Lieutenant Amuli\u0107 completed the Course of antisubmarine warfare, as well as the Basic course of peace support operations. He was currently assigned as the deputy commander of the missile gunboat RTOP – 42 “Dubrovnik” of the Croatian Navy Fleet.<\/p>\n

In addition to Lieutenant Amuli\u0107, additional two Croatian Navy officers have been participating in the EU Atalanta Operation \u00a0EU “Atalanta” in the Operation Command in Nortwood in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – Lieutenant Commander Ivica Pavi\u0107, and on the French flagship A630 MARNE – Lieutenant Commander Vjekoslav Peri\u0161a.<\/p>\n

Members of the Croatian Armed Forces have been participating in the European Union’s peacekeeping operation “Atalanta” from July 2009 when the first Navy officer was sent to one of the French frigate deployed in the Gulf of Aden. Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, up to 5 officers \/ NCOs of the Croatian Navy can participate in the peacekeeping operation ATALANTA.<\/p>\n

Operation Atalanta was launched in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations 1814, 1816, 1838 and 1846 from 2008, in order to protect ships carrying food to Somalia within the WFP (World Food Programme), and to protect ships that sail through Somali waters and reject all pirate attacks and armed attacks on ships.<\/p>\n[nggallery id=884]\n\n\n\n\n
