The basic training for pilots and technicians was carried out on Mi-171 Sh helicopters, while the condition training was carried out on BELL 206 B Helicopter.<\/p>\n
Support in the implementation of training on MI-171 Sh helicopters was provided by the pilots of the Multirole Helicopter Squadron of the 91st Air Force Base and U.S. instructors, while the condition training was fully carried out under the leadership of the Croatian teachers for night flight training.<\/p>\n
Flying at night using NVG equipment began two years ago, and the intention is to train all the helicopter pilots and crews of Croatian Air Force and Air Force to fly at night with the NVG help that have been donated by the U.S. Armed Forces. In addition to flight crews, the training is also regularly conducted by the aircraft technicians.<\/p>\n
NVG equipment allows crews at minimum night light (starry sky if there is no moon or weak source of light in the distance, outdoor lighting glare…) the identification of all the details necessary for safe flight (power lines, trees and other obstacles, the place for the landing …). Also, with the help of the NVG equipment, search and rescue operations can be carried out at night, as well as medical evacuation on the unprepared landing fields and heliports that do not have the entire necessary infrastructure for the night work.<\/p>\n
Pilots of the Helicopter Squadron who fly on the BELL-206 B helicopters completed basic and advanced training, and by condition training they maintain the achieved level of training at the operational and tactical level. The basic training includes basic flight with adaptation to the new system and flying conditions, while advanced training includes landing on the peaks and reefs, landing on the mountain tops and flying in the mountain environment and other complex flight maneuvers at night.<\/p>\n
Thanks to the training, obtained certificates and systematic condition training Helicopter Squadron pilots are able to train the crews of other countries by which the Air Force Base in Zemunik develops to the International Training Centre for helicopter crews of NATO and partner countries.<\/p>\n[nggallery id=1023]\n
