The new Croatian military study programmes \u201eMilitary Management\u201c and \u201eMilitary Engineering\u201c, to be launched in the academic year 2014\/2015, were presented at the seminar entitled\u00a0 “Transition of Military Education System in the South-East Europe”,\u00a0 held 4-6 February 2014 at the Centre for Security Co-operation\u00a0 (RACVIAC),\u00a0 discussing the co-operation of the military and civilian sector in the education system, in view of the successful co-operation between the Croatian Defence Academy and the Centre. <\/p>\n
The Director of the Croatian Defence Academy, Lt. Gen. Slavko Bari\u0107 stressed that the study programmes in question were opened for candidates from other countries as well. “The programmes are primarily intended for Croatian citizens and the Armed Forces, but remain open for for all countries of the region and the European Union and NATO nations respectively”. Lt. Gen. Bari\u0107 also underlined that the transformation of the military education system entailed regular higher education and integration into the civilian education system, conferring the diplomas to the graduating cadets and becoming eligible for exchange with military academies and other institutions from other countries.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
The Vice Rector of the University of Zagreb, Ph. D.\u00a0 Bla\u017eenka Divjak announced that the two new programmes were due to receive the first students in September 2014. “We expect to obtain the approval at the session of the Senate of the University scheduled for next week, to enable us to complete the accreditation process. The secondary schools graduates’ interest for the programmes is considerable, with larger preference shown for Military management”, stated Vice-rector Divjak.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
