{"id":8165,"date":"2014-04-02T09:55:12","date_gmt":"2014-04-02T07:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.morh.hr\/conference-five-years-of-croatia-s-membership-in-nato-at-the-defence-academy-0204\/"},"modified":"2017-10-08T18:34:34","modified_gmt":"2017-10-08T16:34:34","slug":"conference-five-years-of-croatia-s-membership-in-nato-at-the-defence-academy-0204","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.morh.hr\/en\/conference-five-years-of-croatia-s-membership-in-nato-at-the-defence-academy-0204\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference &#8220;Five Years of Croatia&#8217;s Membership in NATO&#8221; at the Defence Academy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Conference is attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovri\u0107, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Kenneth Merten, Chairman of the Croatian Atlantic Council Radovan Vukadinovi\u0107, Defence Advisor to the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zlatko Garelji\u0107, representatives of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, scholars and representatives of\u00a0 businesses in Croatia. <br \/>&#8220;Within a short time period we converted our forces from a large and territorially-based military into modern Armed Forces, whose professionalism and abilities have received confirmation from the Allies and partners in a number of international operations&#8221;, stated the Chief of the General Staff, General Drago Lovri\u0107, who also emphasised the paramount importance of the regional co-operation with the countries of Southeast and Central Europe alike. <br \/>The U.S. Ambassador\u00a0 Kenneth Merten congratulated Croatia on the fifth anniversary of membership, saying that it was a great honour to be Croatia&#8217;s partner and Ally in the Alliance. \u201eIt has really been a historic occasion for Croatia and NATO alike&#8221;, said the Ambassador, who added that the Croatian membership has also enhanced NATO, particularly in Kosovo and Afghanistan.<br \/>&#8220;The Croatian Armed Forces have provided valuable contribution over the past five years of Croatia&#8217;s full membership in NATO, and Croatia has grown into an equal partner through a series of operations world-wide.
