The MiG-21 aircraft with 26 112 marking by which the Croatian pilot Rudolf Pere\u0161in flew over from the Biha\u0107 airport to Austria in October 1991 has been delivered to Croatia on 7 May 2019, after 28 years, concluding the first phase of the return of the aircraft flown by the legendary Croatian pilot.<\/p>\n

Upon the arrival it was toured by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Matanovi\u0107, by the Special Advisor to the Defence MInister Bo\u017eo Ko\u017eul, by the Deputy Commander of the Croatian Air Force Colonel Michael Kri\u017eanec and representatives of the Croatian Armed Forces and of the Croatian Air Force. <\/p>\n

The project of delivery of MIG 21 flown by Rudolf Pere\u0161in from Austria engaged 12 air technicians of the Croatian Air Force and 15 members of the Support Command.<\/p>\n

Lieutenant General Matanovi\u0107, head of the project, expressed appreciation to all the personnel engaged in the event of historic importance for the Croatian Armed Forces and the Republic of Croatia. <\/p>\n

“I am honoured to have had the opportunity to head the project, and wish to appreciate Minister Krsti\u010devi\u0107 for his assistance with the return of the symbol of the victory in the Homeland War to Croatia. The heroic feat by Colonel Pere\u0161in in the crucial moments for Croatia demonstrated the capacity and the courage of the Croatian Army and Croatia as a whole”, said Lt. Gen. Matanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

It was realised thanks to the excellent relations between Croatia and Austria, said Lt. Gen. Matanovi\u0107, Colonel Kri\u017eanec recalled the war history of Colonel Pere\u0161in and his huge contribution to the development of the Croatian Air Force and said that the transport had been executed in a brief time and displaying enviable competences of the Croatian air technicians. 
\nThe return of the MiG21 flown by Colonel Pere\u0161in took five days, and efforts by the staff of the Croatian Air Force and of the Support Command. We are aware how important Rudolf Pere\u0161in is for the Croatian Air Force and for the Croatian Armed Forces; he was the motive for many of us to join the Croatian Air Force, and is keeping us together to this day.<\/p>\n
