12th HRVCON deployed to KFOR

The first part of the 12th HRVCON had its sent-off to the NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR) Mission at the 91st Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base in the “Lučko” Barracks on 16 March 2013, for a 4-month term.

The Contingent consists of 20 members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, mostly members of the Air Force and Air Defence, equipped with two utility Mi – 171 Sh helicopters and commanded by Maj. Tomislav Pušnik of the Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Air Force and Air Defence Base.

The send-off ceremony was attended by the representative of the General Staff Operations Centre, Col. Nikola Županić and the envoy of the Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Col. Darko Brajković, who addressed the members of the Contingent and expressed their confidence in their mission trainedness and preparedness. The basic mission of the Croatian Contingent in KFOR, which is deployed to the Bondsteel Camp in Ferizaj/Uroševac, is transportation of personnel and cargo.

The remaining part of the Contingent is to be deployed to the area of operation in the upcoming days.
