15th anniversary of the death of Rudolf Peresin commemorated
In memory of the Croatian Air Force pilot Colonel Rudolf Peresin killed in combat flying mission during the “Flash” operation, the delegation of the Air Force and Air Defence, led by Deputy Commander Brigadier General Drazen Scuri laid a wreath and lit candles on Monday, May 3, at the city cemetery Mirogoj in Zagreb.
A memorial service for Rudolf Peresin was held in the chapel of St. Peter and Paul Military Chaplaincy in the 91st Air Force Base. Pilot Rudolf Peresin was killed during the “Flash” military operation, after the enemy force shot the MiG-21 airplane on the 2nd of May 1995. His remains were returned to Croatia on the 4th of August 1997, and on the 15th of September 1997 he was buried at City Cemetery Mirogoj. Rudolf Peresin died as Commander of the 21st squadron of fighter planes in 91st AF Base Pleso. He participated in all combat operations of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence. He was awarded with the Order of Prince Domagoj with necklace, Order of Nikola Subic Zrinski, Order of Ban Jelacic, Order of Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan with gilding, Order of Stjepan Radic, Memorial of Homeland War and Memorial of National Gratitude. He is holder of the Medal for exceptional undertakings and Flash medal.
