17th CAF Shooting Championship

By awarding medals and trophys to the most successful teams and individuals, today, May 19, 17th CAF Championship in shooting was closed on the automatic shooting range “Vrapčanski potok” in Zagreb.

Closing ceremony was attended by numerous guests from the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces and civilian sports organizations that participated in the organization and implementation of championship (Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian shooting federation, Shooting Federation of Zagreb).

The championship was officially closed by the envoy of the Chief of General Staff, Commander of the Support Command Major General Mate Ostovic, who was responsible for the organization and implementation of championship. “The competition was conducted in the sports and fair spirit, and the results achieved were good”, General Ostovic said.
The championship started on May 16, with the participation of about one hundred female and male competitors from 13 CAF units. Men have been competing in rifle shooting PAP (7.62 mm), and military pistols (9 mm) according to the CISM rules (International Military Sports Committee), and the ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation). Women’s competition took place in the disciplines of military pistol (9 mm), also according to the rules of both international sports organizations. Competition manager was Colonel Kresimir Vrancic.
At the end, the best were members of Signal Regiment, who won the trophy for best team at the championship. Individually, the best were Sergeant Perica Rosandic (Guards Motorised Brigade – the best rifle shooting), Sergeant Slavko Matanic (Training and Doctrine Command – the best in pistol shooting), and Corporal Sanela Perisic (Special Operations Battalion – best in pistol shooting).
