19th anniversary of the death of EC observation mission members

Upon the 19th anniversary of the death of five members of the European Community Monitoring Mission, the commemorative ceremony was held in Podrute near Novi Marof on Friday, 7 January 2011, which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence.

In the helicopter of EC Observer Mission, which was shot down by the back then Yugoslav National Army on 7 January 1992, four Italian soldiers were killed: Silvano Natale, Fiorenzo Ramaccio, Enzo Venturini, Marco Matta and a French officer Jean-Loup Eychenne.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial and then a service was served at the Queen of Peace Church in Podrute. On behalf of the Prime Minister, wreath was laid by the Interior Minister, Tomislav Karamarko and the present were addressed by Minister Karamarko, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy HE Alessandro Pignatti Morano di Custoza, Charge d ‘Affaires of the French Embassy Mrs. Salina Grenet and Commander of the Italian Fifth Helicopter Regiment Colonel Ciancarella.
