19th anniversary of the “Peruća” Action

19th anniversary of the Croatian Armed Force Action “Peruća” was celebrated  today, 28 January 2012, at several locations in the area of the Cetina region.

Program was organized by the Association of Croatian war veterans, “Veterans of 126th brigade-Sinj”, and was attended by Minister of Defence Ante Kotromanović, who was one of the participants of the “Peruća” Action, Deputy Minister of Veterans Nevenka Benić, Deputy Prefect of Split-Dalmatia County Luka Brčić, Mayor of Sinj Ivica Glavan, representatives of war veterans’ associations, families of deceased veterans and others.
The program started with the launch of monograph on the fallen members of the Army from Cetina region “To Eternal Glory and Praise” in Alkarski Dvori in Sinj. Photomonograph was presented by author Filip Ratković and his associate Stjepan Bekavac, followed by the address of Minister Kotromanović, Deputy Minister Benić, Deputy Prefect Brčić, Mayor Glavan and Boško Vladović, president of the 126th Brigade Veterans’ Association. All speakers stressed that photomonograph has been a very important witness for the Homeland War and for veterans of the Cetina region who gave their lives for Croatia. These are our heroes, people who truly fought with us for the Croatian state, from Dubrovnik and Vukovar, and did all so today we have the free and independent Republic of Croatia and live in peace, said Minister Kotromanović.

The center of “Peruća” commemoration was wreath laying ceremony at the memorial of Ante Buljan, member of the 126th Home Guard Regiment who was killed in action. The monument is located near the HEP plant with a dam whose liberation was the ultimate goal of the action. Besides Minister Kotromanović, Brigadier General Mladen Fuzul was also in the delegation of the MOD and Armed Forces. Wartime commander of the “Peruća” Action Zdravko Škarpa and Representative of Hrvace Commune and MP Dinko Bošnjak also addressed the present reminding them on the action. They pointed out that the success of the campaign and the liberation of the dam and the surrounding territory finally eliminated the enemy threat of flooding large areas of the Cetina region.
