1st NPCC visits the mosque

In preparation for the deployment of our troops in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, military police members of the 21st HRVCON ISAF, the component of the 1st NPCC (National Police Coordination Centre) visited on January 23 Islamic Centre and Mosque in Zagreb’s Borovje.

 

The visit was hosted by the main speakers, imams mr. sc. Mirza effendi Mešić, Imam of the Zagreb Mosque and mr. sc. Nermin effendi Batonjić, the head of the Office of Mufti. Using already well established schedule, the lectures began in front of the Memorial park in front of the Mosque erected in honour of all the Muslims who gave their lives in the Homeland War as members of the Croatian Armed Forces. The lecture continued within the Islamic Centre, with visiting the museum and with lectures based on the basics of Islam and on the interconnection of religious and tribal mentality of people of Afghanistan. Lecturers gave particular attention to the experience and observations that Mufti Dr. Aziz effendi Hasanović gathered, who together with the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić visited on 16 December 2012, components of the 20th Croatian contingent in ISAF operation which have been located at Marmal Camp in northern Afghanistan, near Mazar e Sharif.

The 1st NPCC, along with members of the Armed Forces, is composed of the members of the Ministry of Interior.

After completing the lecture, hosts toured our troops through the library and museum and finally went into the prayer part of the Mosque where they were introduced with the basic parts of the sacral part of the Mosque, and where they were presented with a necessary code of conduct during the possible entry of our troops into a mosque as part of their regular duties in Afghanistan.

The lecture was completed by queries of interested soldiers and discussion about the experiences of those who were previously in the mission.
