20th anniversary of Electronic Reconnaissance Centre
The twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the CAF GS Electronic Reconnaissance Centre (SEI) was officially commemorated on Friday, October 7, by laying wreaths at memorial in the Defence Ministry, by the Holy Mass in the Chapel, and by the lining of members of Electronic Reconnaissance Centre.
The ceremony was attended by all the former unit members, veterans, officials of the Ministry of Defence and CAF, as well as other officers and employees.
“From 7 October 1991, when by the decision of the Minister of Defence was established, the Main Centre for Electronic Reconnaissance and counter electronic activities of the National Guard, to date, SEI has been constantly active in defending and protecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia”, the Commander of SEI Colonel Zeljko Miro said in his welcoming speech. He noted that all these 20 years of continuous operation, especially since the first reorganization in 1993, SEI members always were led to the principle of professionalism, expertise and unconditional commitment, both in war and in peace, for which he thanked them.
On behalf of the Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff present were welcomed by Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, congratulating all members the 20th anniversary, having reminded all on very important tasks in the war. “The role in the war and the postwar transition showed that SEI performs extremely important technical tasks, as for the Armed Forces the same for the national security of the Croatia in general.
In occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing SEI, distinguished members were awarded with commendations and awards, and ten members who have been in the unit from the first day of the establishment, received special awards and plaques for honourable and exemplary 20 year in service in the unit.
