20th HRVCON members visited Zagreb mosque

As part of preparations for the deployment to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, members of the staff and supporting components of the 20th Croatian contingent visited on Wednesday, 30 May 2012, the Zagreb mosque.

The visit was organized in two parts, lectures and visiting the praying part of the mosque where the contingent members were introduced with the basic behaviour rules. The host of the visit was professor. Ph.D. Aziz Effendi Hasanović, Deputy Mufti and Chief Coordinator for the cooperation betwen the Islamic Community in Croatia and the Ministry of Defence.

At the beginning, the present were addressed by Deputy Commander of the Training Centre for International Military Operations, a leader of the pre-deployment training Colonel Rudolf Vučić. Due to his experience as a leader of the Multinational Combined Operational Mentor Team (MN CS OMLT), which consists of members of the Croatian and U.S. Armed Forces from the composition of the Minnesota National Guard, Colonel Vučić emphasized the importance of this part of the preparations where the lecturer, using real world examples, introduced HRVCON members with the indigenous culture and customs of the Afghan population indicating the importance of knowing their traditions and religion. During the visit, members of the Armed Forces were welcomed by the new MOD spokesman Mislav Šimatović who thanked the lectures on the cooperation and stressed the importance of continuing and further deepening of cooperation.
