4th MN CS OMLT visits Zagreb mosque
Members of the 4th Multinational Combined Operational Mentoring Liaison Team (MN CS OMLT) in preparation for deployment to the ISAF peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, visited on Monday, January 24, the mosque in Zagreb, where they met Mufti Assistant dr. Aziz effendi Hasanovic and attended lectures on the basics of the Islamic religion, language, culture and customs of the people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Members of the 4th MN CS OMLT, which consists of CAF members and members of the U.S. Armed Forces from the composition of the Minnesota National Guard, in the first part of the lecture familiarized with the basics of Islamic religion and the meaning and manifestation of the Sharia Law. The second part of the lecture consisted of visiting the Islamic Centre and visiting the sacred part of the mosque where they were presented with the basic etiquette of entering and staying in the mosque. The last part of the lecture was held in the library of the Islamic Centre, during which they were presented with Sunni and Shiite practice of Islam, tribal customs and cultural features of the Afghan local population and particularly how to behave toward Afghan co-workers, religious officials and women during any meeting.
At the end of the visit, the OMLT Commander Major Oliver Svob thanked Imam Hasanovic on useful information that were presented to members of the 4th MN CS OMLT.
Traditionally, since December 2006, as part of preparations for the CAF members for deployment in the ISAF mission, a visit to the Zagreb mosque has been carried out. The main aim of the visit is to introduce members of the Armed Forces with the way of life, religious and cultural practices, and make them familiar with the tradition and history of the Afghan people.
