7th Air Advisory Team within the 21st HRVCON

21st HRVCON in ISAF in Afghanistan has been augmented by the 7th Air Advisory Team, whose mission is to take over the advisory duty for the air component (i.e. pilots, flying technicians, command and staff personnel) of the Afghanistan National Army, aimed at creating the conditions for a professional and autonomous Afghan Air Force, capable of fulfilling the security needs of the country at the present moment and in future.

The Air Advisory Team is an integral part of the Mazar e Sharif Air Operations Detachment – the Mazar-e-Sharif-based unit assigned with support to the 209th ANA Corps responsible for the north of Afghanistan. In the course of the past year the ANA has not had mentoring advisors for pilots and flying technicians, which affected adversely its training,. The arrival of the 7th AAT to administer the training, normally conducted in the air training units,  is expected to shorten the way to professionalisation of the Afghan Air Force and by extension, of the entire Afghan National Army.
