8th anniversary of the Support Command

CAF Support Command marked on the November 15 in “Satnik Josip Zidar”  barracks in Velika Buna its 8th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by representative of the Minister of Defence MOD State Secretary Mate Raboteg, Deputy Chiefs of General Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Baric and Rear Admiral Zdenko Simicic, envoy of the President and Defence Advisor to the President Zlatko Gareljic, and other MOD and CAF officials and employees of the Support Command.

Support Command troops are now the biggest logistics organization in the Armed Forces and responsible for organization and implementation of logistics, medical, personnel and other support to CAF members, units and commands, as said by the Commander of the Support Command Major General Mate Ostovic. Diverse logistical support has been carried out and organized in 30 barracks and 13 remote military installations. General Ostovic also emphasized that the Support Command conducted training for logistics specialist for the MOD and CAF members, and Support Command staff have been also actively participating in the ISAF mission in the training of Afghan army in the logistics.

On behalf of the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Slavko Baric congratulated Support Command staff on their anniversary. “Support Command meets all its tasks effectively, economically and on time”, General Baric said, and noted that Support Command learned their lessons from the war in how to develop, for which it gets all the praise for its work in the country, but also for logistic support to CAF members in missions abroad.

On behalf of the Minister of Defence, MOD State Secretary Mate Raboteg congratulated the Support Command staff their anniversary. Pointing to the importance of the logistics system Raboteg said “that the logistic component of any armed forces is not only important for achieving the declared abilities, but it is a reflection of organization of the defence system as a whole”.
On behalf of the President, Zlatko Gareljic also congratulated Support Command staff their anniversary.

The selected employees of the Support Commands were handed commends, awards and promotions. Among the officers who were promoted also was the Support Command Commander Mate Ostovic who was promoted to the rank of major general.
