Defence Minister meets with U.S. Sixth Fleet Commander

The Croatian Defence Minister, Ante Kotromanović and the Croatian Navy Commander, Commodore Predrag Stipanović met in Split on 30 October 2015 with the U.S. Sixth Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral James G. Foggo, during his two-day visit to the Croatian Navy.

They discussed the future prospects of co-operation between the U.S. Navy and the Croatian Navy  and the joint activities to be undertaken in the Adriatic Sea.
Minister Kotromanović extended appreciation for the support provided by the U.S. to the Croatian Armed Forces, and particularly for the successful co-operation between the  two navies through joint training and exercises leading to better comprehension and interoperability. The Minister emphasised the projects of patrol boats in construction, proving the Croatian Navy was earmarked as an equipping and development priority in the upcoming period.
The two sides outlined the future co-operation possibilities, primarily in specialist training activities (countermine, counter submarine and surface warfare) and in joint exercises.
Vice Admiral Foggo praised the Croatian Navy’s engagement through the training events and maintained traditional naval capabilities.  By deploying its ships to the Operation “Triton 2015“ and providing the support provided to the NRF exercise “Trident Juncture 2015” the Croatian Navy demonstrated the capability of operation beyond the Adriatic Sea, stressed Vice admiral Foggo.
Commodore Stipanović appreciated Vice Admiral Foggo for the visit to the Croatian Navy testifying to the excellent co-operation between the two navies and particularly for the continuous support from the U.S. Navy  to the Croatian  Navy as its  most important bilateral partner. He also briefed Vice Adm Foggo with the Croatian Navy’s organisation, missions, tasks and capabilities, as well as the modernisation projects, in compliance with the long-term development plans.
