Ambassador of Turkey visits Ministry of Defence
The Croatian Defence Minister Josip Buljević received a visit from the Ambassador of Turkey to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Ahmet Tuta, on 9 March 2016.
The two sides welcomed the productive and friendly bilateral relations, with no contentious issues, emphasising the co-operation within NATO and the complementarity of interests with regard to the Alliance’s policies.
Minister Buljević briefed Ambassador Tuta with the priorities and most important projects of the Croatian Ministry of Defence, and discussed the current global and regional security. The Minister reported Croatia close surveying the current global political situation, primarily in the Middle East and North Africa with important repercussions on the stability of Europe as well.
He also expressed Croatia’s awareness of the position of the Republic of Turkey with respect to the ongoing Middle East crises, and the comprehension for the efforts it invested to integrate the migrants.
Both sides welcomed NATO’s recent decision to expand its deployment in the crisis through enhanced monitoring in the Aegean Sea.
Special focus in the talks was placed on the support to the Euro-Atlantic future of southeast Europe and the development of institutional capacities of the aspirant countries.
With regard to bilateral defence co-operation, both sides expressed the intent to continue and intensify it, primariy with the force interoperability, exercises and military education programmes.
The Croatian Minister extended the appreciation to the Ambassador of Turkey for the contribution from his country within the Centre for Security Co-operation (RACVIAC).
