3rd HRVCON returns from Afghanistan

The members of the 3rd HRVCON to NATO-led “Resolute Support” on  18 March 2016 returned from to the 91st  Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence at Pleso.

They were welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mirko Šundov, the Commander of the Support Command, Major General Drago Matanović, the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier General Miroslav Kovač, Deputy Commander of the Operations Centre of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Colonel  Krešo Tuškan and their families.
The Contingent Commander, Colonel Mijo Haršanji reported to the Chief of the General Staff, who extended the appreciation to the Contingent for their contribution in Afghanistan.
“Your engagement builds on the contribution of the previous Croatian contingents will be find its mark as each new international contingent brings the Afghan forces closer to assuming full responsibility for the security of the country. 
The participation in the mission in Afghanistan has confirmed the Croatian Armed Forces anew to belong to the community of professional and trained armed forces on which the citizens of Croatia, our allies and partners can always rely on“, stressed Lt. Gen. Šundov.
The Chief of the General Staff also expressed satisfaction over the joint engagement of the Croatian Armed Forces alongside the members of the partner and neighbour countries’  forces.
Colonel Haršanji emphasised his pride over commanding the Contingent for the past six month period and called its members to initiate and promote the activities related to peace operations in their respective units.
The Contingent comprised 78 members of the Croatian Armed Forces (7 females) and 12 members of the Army of Montenegro. Its mission was focussed on mentoring and training of the Afghan National Security Force and on the protection of the advisory teams.
They arrived to Zagreb alongside the members of the Armed Forces of Albania and of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and of the Army of Macedonia, who also took part in the mission but outside the Croatian Contingent.
