Defence Minister of Albania visits MOD
The Croatian Defence Ministar Josip Buljević on 14 April 2016 received the first official visit from the Defence Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mimi Kodheli with the delegation.
The ministers confirmed the excellent bilateral relations and co-operation between Albania and Croatia and stated that a co-ordinated response to new security threats and combating the radicalism was in the common interest. The two countries also saw the full integration of all countries of southeast Europe in the regional initiatives enabling the dialogue and trustbuilding among them as their common interest.
The two sides agreed to co-operate and exchange information continuously on the issue of the migrant crisis.
Minister Buljević pledged the support from Croatia to Albania in its accession to the European Union. “I exchanged the views with Minister Kodheli on the situation in southeast Europe and we also addressed the priorities for NATO summit in Warsaw. We also agreed the plans for the future defence co-operation activities of our friendly nations, to prepare them to respond efficiently to the security challenges in our environment“, said Minister Buljević.
“In addition to bearing the responsibility for the safety and prosperity of their citizens, our two countries as NATO nations are also a guarantee to the security and stability of the region“, said the Minister Buljević.
Minister Kodheli valued highly the visit to the Republic of Croatia. “We have led productive talks and agreed further intensification of the bilateral defence co-operation. Albania ad Croatia joined NATO together seven years ago, and they share the view on the enlargement of the Alliance and will continue their joint engagement in NATO-led operations and missions, particularly in Afghanistan.
Albania and Croatia will continue to provide mutual support, and to work side-by-side in the interest of the security of our region“, said the Albanian Minister.
Minister Kodheli also met with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Željko Reiner, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Tomislav Karamarko and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miro Kovač, and is to visit the Croatian Special Forces Command in Delnice.
