Bulgarian Defence Minister visits Croatia

The Croatia Defence Minister Josip Buljević on 25 April 2016 received a visit from the Defence Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Nikolay Nankov Nenchev heading the Bulgarian delegation.

The two delegations highlighted the friendly bilateral relations and bilateral co-operation between  Bulgaria and Croatia.
The two ministers discussed the current situation in southeast Europe, the priorities for the forthcoming NATO summit to be held in Warsaw and the prospects for bilateral defence co-operation.
With respect to the summit in Warsaw, the ministers concluded on the need to set the direction of restructuring in compliance with the new security environment and ensure that the Alliance protects its member nations and their security in the best of ways.
Given the serious challenges faced by southeast Europe reflecting on its stability and security, Bulgaria and Croatia as NATO and the EU members have the responsibility and the  interest to promote its security and stability.
The two ministers emphasised that both Bulgaria and Croatia would continue to assist their neighbouring  aspirant countries in their integration efforts.
“We have reached a high level of consensus in our talks, exchanged the experience in defence policy and committed to continue the successful co-operation in addressing the migrant crisis, primarily through continuous exchange of information“, stated the Croatian Minister.
Expressing the satisfaction over the visit to the Ministry of Defence, Minister Nenchev underlined that the two sides reached common standpoints on the migrant crisis, exchanged the views on the modernisation processes in the two respective armed forces and on the prospects for expanded defence co-operation. 
The Bulgarian delegation is also to meet with the representatives of the Croatian Parliament and of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and to visit Vukovar and pay respects to the Bulgarian soldiers fallen in the World War II and to the victims of the Homeland War in the Memorial Cemetery of the Victims of the Homeland War.
