CAF delegation visited Allied Command Transformation

On the second day of the official visit to the United States Chief of CAF General Staff General Lucic visited Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Croatian delegation was received by the ACT Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Mieczyslaw Bieniek. During the talks, the close co-operation with the Allied Command Transformation in the process of Croatian integration into the NATO was highlighted and the willingness to continue the good cooperation was confirmed. ACT Representatives stressed that the cooperation with the Republic of Croatia was one of the most intensive, stressing that Croatia recognized and greatly benefited from opportunities provided by the Allied Command Transformation as an important resource in building the necessary adjustments and capabilities of their armed forces as a member of NATO. They also discussed further development of military capabilities of the Croatian Armed Forces and the achieved level of development of the Coast Guard as one of the most important contribution of the CAF to civil society. General Bieniek at the end of the meeting stressed that the joining of Republic of Croatia to NATO was of special importance since it showed the countries in the region that, with a serious approach and good preparation, the goal of joining NATO was not elusive. The meeting was also attended by the Croatian representative to the ACT Brigadier Ivica Kranjcevic and Croatian officers on duty in Norfolk, Colonel Drazen Smiljanic and Colonel Nevenka Kovac.

During his stay in Norfolk, Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces visited the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM), where he was received by the Commander of USJFCOM General Raymond T. Odierno. On this occasion, the Croatian delegation was presented with the current status of the Command, its features and capabilities. During the meeting they discussed the peacekeeping operations.
