Visit of representatives of NATO Building Integrity Initiative
Representatives of NATO Building Integrity Initiative with the aim of maintaining a final consultation in terms of finalizing the assessment for Croatia within the framework of the initiative visited Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, April 5.
Building Integrity (BI) team is comprised of several representatives of NATO, led by former British Ambassador to NATO, Stewart Eldon.
The initiative was established by the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) in November 2007 as part of the NATO Partnership Action Plan on Defence Institution Building; PAP-DIB. The basic intention of the initiative is to raise awareness, promote good practice and provide practical tools to assist nations in building integrity and reduce the risk of corruption in the security sector through the strengthening of transparency.
In this context, Ministry of Defence last year drafted a questionnaire on self-integrity. Following the submitted answers and expert consultations that were held on Tuesday, April 5, the final assessment (Perr Review Report) will be made, which primary purpose is the identification of existing best practices in building integrity and reducing the risk of corruption in the defence system and the separation of recommendations for further improvement of existing national practices and solutions.
During their stay in Croatia NATO team will also meet State Secretary of Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic, representatives of the responsible entities of the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces, and a meeting of NATO representatives with other governmental bodies and NGOs was scheduled as well.
