Integration Conference in Split
Organized by the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces and ACT-Allied Command Transformation, the fourth Conference on Integration of Croatia into NATO, titled “Integration Conference-ACT” was opened in the Lora naval base in Split, on Monday, 6 June 2011.
The conference was opened with an introductory speech by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic who referred to the currently most important events and processes within the Croatian defence system, connected with the completion of key strategic documents, and with the participation of CAF in ISAF mission in Afghanistan. General Kjell Skare from Allied Command Transformation, who led the NATO delegation, expressed his satisfaction with the organization and emphasized the importance of maintaining this type of conference and at the same time, the need to develop effective and rational defence, based on capability development. He also stressed the progress that the Republic of Croatia achieved in the integration process, given the very dynamic period for the accession process. Chief of Planning Directorate of the General Staff, Major General Dragutin Repinc gave a brief overview of the current integration efforts and issues that have arisen in the process of accession and the progress made since the previous integration conferences held.
During Monday, 6 and Tuesday, 7 June there will be workshops that will cover the strategic level, strategic and defence planning, education and training, collective training and exercises, and logistics planning. Along with representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, representatives from the Allied Command Transformation, the Joint Force Command in Naples and international staff from NATO Headquarters from Brussels will participate in these workshops.
