Bozinovic met representatives of the Defence Committee of German Bundestag
In the frame of visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Defense Minister Davor Bozinovic met today, June 28, with representatives of the Defence Committee of German Bundestag (Federal Assembly).
During previous talks on military cooperation between the two countries, where emphasis was placed on multi-year friendly cooperation particularly in the area of operations in peacekeeping missions, with emphasis on the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, members of the committee were interested in the Croatian experience, about the abolishing of compulsory military service and the introduction of voluntary service, as the FRG these days also leaves the system of compulsory service and introduces voluntary recruits.
Also there was discussion about the security situation in the countries of South East Europe and cooperation of Croatia with the countries of the region.
Croatia’s joining NATO and the EU is a good example and incentive for other countries in the region in implementing their internal reforms and in their efforts to move closer to Euro-Atlantic integrations, it was concluded during the talks.
At the end of the meeting representatives of the Committee stressed its readiness to further develop the traditionally successful bilateral cooperation with Croatia in all areas, saying at the same time that Croatia is already considered part of the security system of the EU.
