Kotromanović and Polish Ambassador Tarka on defense cooperation
Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received today, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 , in inaugural visit the Polish Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia Wieslaw Tarka, accompanied by the Polish military attaché to Croatia Col. Slawomir Zbroja.
On this occasion, the Minister pointed out that Croatia and Poland have generally, but also on the defensive plan, the good cooperation that has room for improvement in the coming period. Kotromanović especially thanked for the support provided by the Poland to Republic of Croatia during the EU accession process.
Ambassador Tarka congratulated Minister Kotromanović on the new duty, and also the Republic of Croatia on the outcome of a referendum on Croatia’s accession to the EU, which, according to him, gave a clear perspective of the Republic of Croatia. Ambassador Tarka stressed that Poland advocated and advocates for the expansion of the EU to countries that meet the criteria. As far as defence cooperation, he expressed confidence that the good cooperation would continue in the future.
Specifically, it can be noted in particular cooperation of special forces troops and military police of the two armed forces, then the cooperation in the use of combat armoured vehicles and cooperation between military academies. Despite limited funding, 18 different joint bilateral activities in the field of defence between the Polish and Croatian have been planned this year.
Minister Kotromanovic and Ambassador Tarka have also discussed cooperation in international peacekeeping missions and operations, and the situation in the region, particularly focusing on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Kosovo.
