Minister Kotromanovic and Prime Minister at commemoration in Srebrenica

The mortal remains of 520 victims of genocide against the Bosniaks of Srebrenica were buried in the cemetery today at the memorial complex in Potočari.

Thousands of people attended the memorial and burial service, and with numerous officials and representatives of international community in Srebrenica was also the Croatian delegation led by the Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanović. Prime Minister Milanović was accompanied by the Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović. “This is a sublime and awfully sad, much sadder than I thought when I was coming here. It is incomprehensible that this happened”, Prime Minister Milanović said.

Upon completion of the commemoration, the Prime Minister and Minister Kotromanović traveled to Orašje, where they held a meeting with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vjekoslav Bevanda and representatives of the Posavina Canton, Brčko District and the municipalities of Bosnian Posavina, which belong to the Republic of Srpska. After the meeting, Prime Minister Milanović stressed that Croatia would assist in the building of infrastructure and that everything else would be in the hands of local people who have shown to be able to defend themselves, and to work and build their place in which they live. “Ministers from the Croatian Government also have to come here” said the Prime Minister stressing that the projects would go through the State Office for Croats living abroad of the Republic of Croatia. “We are trying to do something for people to stay here, knowing how hard it is, but a perspective is not really bad for the Bosnian Croats”, concluded the Prime Minister in a media statement.
