10th Croatian contingent in KFOR mission

First part of the 10th Croatian Contingent was sent today, 12 July 2012, to the NATO peace support operation in Kosovo (KFOR – Kosovo Force) for the period of four months.

10th Contingent consists of the 19 members of the Armed Forces, the majority of which are from the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence with a two transport helicopters Mi – 171 Sh.

Two women, members of the Air Force and Air Defence – Sergeant and Major Sergeant participate in the 10th Contingent as technician and logistics support.

Commander of the 10th HRVCON in the KFOR is Major Ivan Đelagić.

 

The farewell ceremony of the 10th contingent was attended by the representative of the Chief of General Staff, Commander of the Command Operational Centre Brigadier General Vlado Šindler and Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigadier General Dražen Šćuri. During a brief address to members of the 10th Contingent General Vlado Šindler expressed great confidence in the contingent, based on exceptional performance and professional execution of their predecessors. “Members of the Armed Forces for their work in KFOR regularly receive praise from the KFOR Command, as well as from other NATO Headquarters”, General Šindler said.

Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigadier General Dražen Šćuri welcomed members of the contingent and said that their most important mission was safety.

The fundamental task of the Croatian contingent in KFOR, which is deployed in the area of ​​ Bondsteel Camp in Ferizaj / Uroševac, is hauling people and cargo. In addition to Bondsteel Camp, one officer of the Air Force and Air Defence will be sent to the duty of air force officer in the KFOR Command in Priština.

The rest of the force of the 10th Contingent will be sent to the area of ​​operation in following days.
