CMX12 – NATO crisis management simulation exercise
Ministry of Defence takes part in the NATO crisis management simulation exercise conducted from 12 to 16 November 2012. CMX12 exercise (Crisis Management Exercise – CMX) takes place simultaneously in NATO Headquarters in Brussels and in the member states.
This is a simulation exercise conducted on the basis of imaginary scenario and do not provide real military forces deployed in the field. The purpose of the CMX12 is to train crisis management procedures at the strategic and political level. Civilian and military personnel in the NATO Headquarters and in the capitals of participating countries will take part in the exercise. This is the 5th NATO crisis management exercise in which Croatia has been participating. CMX12 scenario is focused on training crisis management procedures during increased threat of attack by chemical, biological and radiological means, including threats to NATO information systems. All NATO member countries and partner countries – Sweden and Finland participate in the exercise. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) participate in the exercise as observers. Representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS) will also participate in the exercise.
