Minister Kotromanović checks MIG overhaul works in Odessa
As a part of the agenda of his official visit to Ukraine, the Croatian Defence Minister today 29 November 2013 visited the „Odesaviaremservis“ Overhaul Department which is conducting the overhaul of the first MIG-21 aircraft acquired by the Croatian Ministry of Defence from Ukraine.
The Croatian Delegation, headed by the Minister Kotromanović visited the Overhaul Department and checked in person the current works that are reaching their final phase.
The leading Overhaul Department staff are assisted by Croatian experts supervising the overhaul, among whom the experienced fighter aircraft pilot Col. Ivan Selak, who has already performed trial flights on the three MIGs.
“The final phase is now in course, which also includes trial flights, resulting in well-prepared and operational fighter aircraft“, said Col. Selak.
Minister Kotromanović stated that even with somewhat delayed delivery, it is essential to receive ready aircraft capable of providing protection of the Croatian air space.
The Croatian delegation also visited the “Malyshev Plant” in Kharkiv, which is specialised in manufacturing, overhaul and upgrade of tanks and armoured vehicles, and along with the main company based in Kharkiv also includes sister companies located in Krim and Zakarpatye and employs some 60 000 persons.
