Defence Minister visits Poland

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović today 21 November 2013 met with the Polish Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak, as part of the programme of his official visit to the Republic of Poland.

The two ministers discussed the future upgrade of defence co-operation focussed on joint training and practicing by designated segments of the respective Armed Forces and on the possibilities of opening the co-operation related to maintenance and procurement of defence systems. The agenda also featured the topics to be discussed at the upcoming defence-oriented EU summit in December 2013 and the NATO Summit scheduled for next year.

The two sides also exchanged the views on the current situation in the international operations, as well as on the situation in South-East and Eastern Europe respectively. They also highlighted mutual favouring of the topics related to partnership development and discussion on the prospects of the NATO Enlargement policy. 

The Defence Minister’s visit to Poland also included the meeting with the Under Secretary of State for security  policy of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Boguslaw Winid, with whom he discussed the security situation in South-East Europe, bilateral relations, the topics pertaining to the NATO Summit in 2014, as well as the EU policy with respect to the East Partnership
Minister Kotromanović laid the wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw.
