First overhauled MIG 21 delivered from Ukraine to Croatia
The first of the five MIG-21 aircraft overhauled in Odessa, Ukraine, was delivered by land transportation (via Hungary) to the Pleso Air Base on 12 April 2014.
On 15 April the Ukrainian expert team is expected to arrive to Croatia too, to assist the Croatian engineers and technicians with the reassembly of the aircraft and to prepare the final testing and the takeover by the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
The second MIG 21 BIS departed from Ukraine too and is due to be delivered next week, while the remaining three completed the tests and their delivery is being prepared, following the preliminary inspections conducted in Ukraine.
Following the last week’s successful flight tests of two-seater MIGs the aircraft are now undergoing final adjustments, painting (the characteristic Croatian red and white checks) and their overhaul documentation is inspected, prior to the transportation itself.
The Ukrainian side, as deliverer, is held responsible for the aircraft until the final reception documents are signed upon the delivery to Croatia.
In accordance with the respective contract, Croatian side cannot execute the payment for the overhaul prior to the final reception of the aircraft in Zagreb, applying all elements of the contract.
