Agreement signed on training of Omani pilots
The Agreement between the Armed Forces of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia was signed in the Ministry of Defence in Zagreb on 5 March 2014, by the Head of the Training Department of the Omani Armed Forces, Col. Salim Mohamed Salim Almiqbali and the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brig. Gen. Dražen Ščuri.
“This is a very important agreement for the Croatian Air Force too, whereby we are to conduct training of a major group of pilots in the English language for the first time“, stated Brig. Gen. Ščuri, who wished for more projects of the kind in the future.
The Agreement stipulates training of 16 Omani pilots and tvo flight instructors by the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence at the 93rd Base (with the accomodation arranged at the Pilot School in the Base), from March to end of December 2014..
The trainees are to arrive to Zadar on 9 March 2014, and will first take the basic training (150 flying hours) on the PC-9M aircraft . The training curriculum designed comprises tvo domains, including basic and aerobatic flying, instrumental and visual navigation flying respectively, basic night-time flying and night-time navigation flying, flying in 2-aircraft groups. Also, the Omani trainees are planned to undergo the winter survival training and the parachuting theory, and the instructors will actively participate in the flight training.
