Air Rifle and Pistol Shooting Range Opened

A new 10-m air rifle and pistol shooting range was opened at the Croatian Defence Academy barracks “Petar Zrinski” in Zagreb on 9 May 2013.

The event was attended by the invitees from the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and from civilian institutions.

Welcoming the invitees, the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Drago Lovrić, emphasized that shooting was a military discipline and constituted a basic military skill of all members of the Armed Forces. «Shooting is an indispensable segment of development of psychological and physical abilities and an ideal preparation for participation in joint exercises», said Lt. Gen. Lovrić and appealed to the members of the Armed Forces to incorporate the new shooting range into training activities.

The Director of the Defence Academy, Lt. Gen. Slavko Barić in his address underlined the importance of practicing sport activities by all enlisted members, NCOs and officers, and extended appreciation to the Academy staff, representatives of the Zagreb Sport Federation and the Zagreb Shooting Federation, to representatives of the «Pleter» catering firm, the HS Produkt (rifle and pistol manufacturer), the Šestan Busch d. o. o.» helmet manufacturer, to representatives of the «Pleter» catering firm and of the «Alan RH».

The opening ceremony offered the opportunity for the invitees for a trial shooting, marking the official opening of the Range. Later, the invitees visited the recreational facilities of the Barracks.
