“Aliante 2014” finalists visit MoD

The Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Zoran Drča on Monday 6 October 2014 received in visit the a team of secondary school finalists of the “Aliante 2014“ quiz competition

held in Slovakia – Hanna Davidović and Andrej Novinc of the “Ban Jelačić” General Secondary School from Zaprešić and Barbara Goršeta and Ivan Vujević from the Velika Gorica General Secondary School respectively. They won the second and the third position in the finals, after three rounds of eliminatory tests. 
The Assistant Minister Drča congratulated the pupils on the brilliant success at the quiz and pledged the support from the Ministry of Defence to the Atlantic Council of Croatia and the secondary schools in preparing the pupils for future participations.
“Aliante“is a competition for pairs of pupils aged 15-19, aiming to promote the knowledge on NATO, security policy and the international relations. It was launched in 2001 and comprises three rounds (the first two rounds testing the knowledge on NATO and its functioning, whereas the third round is focussed on the physical and mental faculties of the participants). The winners are awarded trips to one of NATO nations, its military installations and receptions by the senior political and military officials.
This year’s competition, the second for Croatia, was organised and co-ordinated by the Czech Republic and the Jagello 2000 – Association for Euro-Atlantic Co-operation. The Croatian co-ordinator was Jadranka Dujić-Frlan of the Atlantic Council of Croatia.
