Ambassador Hrastic visits members of 18th HRVCON in ISAF
During his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Ambassador in Turkey and non-resident Ambassador to Afghanistan Drazen Hrastic recently visited members of the 18th contingent in ISAF.
On this occasion, Ambassador Hrastic met with members of the Regional Command Capital in Kabul, where he met with the Commander of the 18th HRVCON Colonel Blaz Beretin as well as with members of the Croatian Armed Forces deployed in Regional Command North in Mazar-e Sharif. During his official visit, on Sunday, November 27, a handover ceremony of a newly constructed elementary school to community in Homar Faroq in Afghanistan was arranged, a project that was realized in the framework of development assistance of the Republic of Croatia to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The construction of this school in a suburb of Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Afghanistan was enabled on the initiative of the Croatian Government and the purpose of the project was to provide access to basic education to as many children in the facility which has five classrooms and other necessary facilities, and which will be used by a total of 250 children from Homar Faroq and nearby Afghan villages. Ceremonial handover of primary schools, along with Ambassador Hrastic, was also attended by the Deputy Commander of the 18th HRVCON in the ISAF mission, Colonel Mario Sambolec, Deputy Civilian Representative of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Feyzabad Hrvoje Curic Hrvatinic, as well as members of the community who expressed their gratitude to Croatia, and stressed that the school would provide a completely new value in the education of their children.
